Kenley Show-33Welcome to the website for the Caterham & District model flying club.

We fly from a strip in a quiet corner of the surrey countryside just east of South Godstone, from the edge of an obstruction free field. With spectacular views of the north downs in the distance.

The runway is mown grass and is 350ft in length and 55ft wide. The runway runs east/west and when flying you are facing north and has pitts with a carpark close by. There is a field shelter should the weather turn inclement, and benches to sit on and chat or just enjoy the view.

cdmfcpics-8Our members age from 8 to 80+ and we enjoy 7 days a week flying (mainly fixed wing) in a safe and friendly environment as befits as BMFA affiliated club. The most popular days are Saturday, Wednesday and Thursday when you will find a lively atmosphere with plenty of banter and friendly advice should you require it. The membership covers a wide range of abilities from novice (we offer free tuition) to highly experianced show and competition pilots. This wealth of knowledge means that usually an answer to any problem you may have can be found.

On the less popular days you may find you have the strip to yourself which is perfect when practising for one of the many club competitions we run throughout the year. These are mainly based around inexpensive but extremely fun to fly ‘Fun Fly’ models and extremely entertaining to both compete in and watch. If that isn’t your thing then you may also enjoy a potter around with a vintage model or even catching a thermal with a glider.

cdmfcpics-1We have a good relationship with the other local clubs and as such we often meet up for social events and sometimes even the odd inter-club competition.

For decades we have been involved at flying at model shows, both locally and also around the country. And always put on a good display suiting the venue and audience.
